Life's full of Mitzvahs

My favorite being cooking and sharing food for friends and family who are in need of kitchen relief. Two of my lovely co-workers just had baby girls, the cutest of them all Corrine-6 weeks, and Maya is 2 weeks old.

Not only do I love being in my kitchen-it's a mitzvah for me to have the skills and love to cook for my husband every night. But I love giving and giving others the gift of a yummy home cooked meal. The best part is showing up and seeing those thankful smiles.

The menu was:

*Drunken pulled pork slow cooked in Au Jus, Italian seasonings and Guinness
*Crouton and Tomato Salad-with fresh ingredients from our garden
*Fresh Berry Crumble
*Texas Caviar-fresh bean salsa

I wanted to give them a sense that they were experiencing sustainable fresh foods from a farmers market without going and doing the work. Since they had mentioned it was nice getting meals from friends but they were exhausted of pasta after pasta dish. To me the best thing about helping out with food is, your making one dish-can't you put some effort and meaning into it for these new mama's and papa's?

And it was great learning from them, and talking about non-medicated births (Michael and I look forward to having this same experience one day). That breast feeding is going well, and how what we actually teach our moms isn't really realistic to true natural breast feeding. Where it's really 5-10 minutes here there on cue, not 15 minutes on each side every three hours....I think that they would flip if we were teaching them that.

I'm happy that everyone is doing well, and I was able to make the special trip!

The next best thing to those grateful smiles is the thoughtful thank you's you find in your in-box!

Thanks for such a wonderful day Julie and Dru...rest up!
