Spring in Colorado: Estes Park (3)

May is mud season in Colorado, meaning that not too many tourists come this way, and a lot of shops, restaurants and attractions are closed. Luckily a few places were still open. The first night we asked a few locals their favorite place. "The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern" was low key, but served great steaks, and elk burgers. It was certainly a good home cooked meal.
Night 2 we went out to Mary's Lodge for dinner, it was a nice escape from town. I bit over priced, and my food didn't come out warm, but hey, it gave us a reason to go out.

The mule dear are so small and precious (I love animals if you couldn't notice by now)

Our drive back to town, you could say was "almost" a white out

The third night we wanted something low key compared to Mary's Lodge. So we picked the Estes Park Brewery. Almost every town in Colorado has at least one brewery. I had had about enough beer at this point and wanted something fruity, anything with blue curaco in it and I'm happy.

We had to line our drinks up because we just weren't sure if mine was big enough

Paradise in the snow

This is the morning we left, of course the sun has now decided to break through the clouds.

I didn't realize that Estes Park still had this much snow on the ground in May, so Mr. B and I will have to go back in July/August next time so that he can experience the real reason I wanted to bring him here. The hike to Bear Lake is amazing, breathe taking, we have to go back for it.
