Goodbye to Facebook

I joined facebook back when it was only college students, I was hesitant to welcome family members and my boyfriends parents. Since that time, it has been nice to see pictures and fast to chat. But I've become too addicted, and I love writing on my blog, so I'm going to delete my facebook page, to focus that time on more worthy aspects of my life...

Ciao Facebook.

Heat Wave Wednesday

As I am trying to keep cool at home, I've decided to turn off the AC and put on our exhaust fan, it's incredible how cool it can keep you (you do need the window open too). It's a great free way to keep the day going. Poor Sydney (our dog), hasn't gotten a walk yet today, I've been too busy with studying for my IBLCE exam in July. And I need to hit the gym too. I need to loose some weight but I just seem so unmotivated recently--there will come a change soon!

Today is also my mom's birthday! Happy Birthday to her :) So I need to get her a card and finish her gift from us.

I think the estimated temperature is around 95 degrees with major humidity, welcome to Virginia. In May in Colorado as you will soon find out, that when we traveled to Estes Park it was a chilly 32 and snowing for 3 days. Then of course as soon as we came out of the air plane in VA it hit us, hot summer weather already...It has come too early again. And will last well into September. If it wasn't for friends and family (and of course our jobs), I'd be lifting these roots to Colorado!

Spring in Colorado: Breckenridge

The Blumberg's, Streifel's, and Gallagher's all rented this amazing vacation home for four days together!

Just staying here for the four days was relaxing enough-it felt more like a whole week and I wish it had been with great new friends/family! Karin's Opa and Oma are a hoot, I love grandparents. We watched "Little Fockers" and just to see their expressions and have everyone laughing together was so much fun! Especially to that movie. They really enjoyed it.

We had a beautiful 10 minute walk into town, which we did everyday. We drove B-ridge (Breckenridge) Friday night, then Saturday, Karin join my family for a historical walk through B-ridge it was amazing how people survived here with more than 30 days below 0 on the winters, even just how they made the trek and believed in the Gold Rush.

Spring in Colorado: it's only the beginning

Not too long ago I was in Colorado for numerous celebrations, we left May 12, to celebrate Karin's graduation with her Doctorate in Neuroscience/Toxicology. My birth day was May 11, and my brother's was May 13 (same day as Karin graduated).

We flew into Denver, late thursday making it just in time to spend dinner with my parents and long lost brother, Neal (nah, we just don't get to see each other a lot).

To show us a good time in Denver--Neal takes us to "a dark burger bar" AKA My Brother's Bar, the oldest in the city.It has a tasty quite greasy lovable menu that keeps locals begging for more. The low key menu and great beer selections is why it seems to be so popular. Our adventure quickly ended when it was time to go set up camp in Neal's basement, luckily there was a bed for Michael and I, parents and all. I love bungalows, especially one with a hot tub!

Friday morning Karin had decided to host brunch for friends and family at her home. She made a lovely assortment of quiches, very creative table layout, fresh flowers, and salad.

All together to join in her graduation festivities, came her parents, older brother-his wife and 6month old, and Oma and Opa (what beautiful, lovely people). Then of course it was just my husband, brother and parents.

The best thing about the quiches is that Karin and Neal have range free, organic eggs, from their three hens: Ginger, Phoebe, and Cher. Michael and I had a lot of fun, chasing and trying to catch them.

Best of all it was very rewarding getting to collect three eggs that morning.

Today went by too fast

My parents were on vacation, so we watch their old man of a dog for one week, and until last night his visit was great.

He would not stop barking last night. I had to sleep in the guest room and lock him in there, so much for being a newlywed and enjoying out master bedroom. So we are celebrating freedom from Foster tonight, which won't happen till bed time, when I get to sleep peacefully with my husband :)

Today though was very relaxing we tried Taste of Burma a restaurant near our house in Sterling, we've been wanting to try and now we love it and are looking forward to enjoying their food again! They had an authentic street market chai that me and the MR. enjoyed very much! I also ordered authentic chai spices from teasource.com that you put into your black tea they name it "the best chai outside of India". Maybe I need to go to India just for a tea tour :) And we are getting a Teavana store at Reston Town Center, something I'm looking forward to.

Yesterday I got wedding books I created on Shutterfly, this was very exciting, and of course I'm enjoying showing everyone.

Last night we enjoyed services and had a shabbat dinner and first get together with our new young jewish group my proposed name for it is Open Door, I'm taking suggestions though, it was definatly a highlight and I'm so excited for future get togethers, if you want to come join us and you are jewish and new to the Reston/Fairfax VA area, our blog is opendoorreston.blogspot.com

Then tonight we enjoyed going to the town center and just walking around even though it is like 20 degrees outside.

We are enjoying our life together, and embracing being newlyweds :)

peace out
R

It's Been TOO Long!

So we did get hitched November 7th, it was such a fabulous time, better than I imagined when planning for the whole year!! I have finished my hours for my internship, today was my first day off. But I do have all of January to get my case reports done, then it will just be time to study for my board exam in July.
